Making the decision to start a business can be simple. Being a business owner, and getting that first client can be the hard part. Here is a great resource, in what you need to consider to start your business. More importantly, you need to own the decision of being your own boss. Simply stating that you are a business owner, but not doing the work to make it happen, is not owning your business. You have to get out there and make connections so that you can get that first client and start building your business through referrals. A potential client can come from anywhere - your neighbor, friends, family, and any other avenue you can think of in your personal network. If that does not work, then branch out further. Contacting your past employers, advertising through google, your local newspaper, City Chamber events, whatever to get the word out that you are ready and open for business. Right now for me, is the fear that this will fail. That all of this preparation will be for nothing. So, I go back to a quote my sister gave to me for my birthday this year: Let your Faith be Bigger than your Fear Me, myself, and I are the only people that can make this business happen. I can only keep on trying, keep on putting the word out, keep on knocking on doors, and I know at least one day, a door will stay open with my first client.
